The boat was owned by Henry Kaiser, who also owned a similar boat called Hot Metal. I think he was owner and/or president of Kaiser Aluminum. (He also started the auto companies which built the Kaiser, Fraser, and the Henry J.) I don't think either boat ever won anything. Henry was father or uncle to Edgar Kaiser, owner of the Hawaii Kai III.
Permalink Reply by Dale Fugier on June 10, 2012 at 10:18pm Fred Farley says, "The U-21 designation first appeared in 1949 on Henry J. Kaiser's ALUMINUM FIRST. Henry J, unfortunately, knew just enough about hydroplane design to be dangerous. The boat was a fiasco and quickly faded into obscurity."
