A friend sent me a post of the "Alter Ego" hydroplane on facebook. 1958 32' Stadaucher V-12 Allison. I am asking him where this is located. Do you know of this boat? It sure looked nice in the pic!

I am a volunteer at the Detroit Historical Museum working at their Collections Resource Center entering photographs into their database. These are hydroplane photos donated to the museum and span the years from Gar Wood's Miss Americas to boats and races from the 1950s and 1960s. Many were taken by professional photographers during races on the river.

If you haven't seen them I urge you to take a look by logging on to detroithistorical.org. Click the collections button and key in the name of your favorite boat, in quotation marks, like "Shanty". In total there are now over 1,000 pictures available, and I am adding more every week.

The Dossin Great Lakes Museum is the permanent home of Miss Pepsi. If you haven't seen her before you should stop in at the museum on Belle Isle when you come to Detroit. I think she is truly on of the most beautiful step hydroplanes ever built. There are also many great photos of her on the website.
Detroit Historical Society picturestag:thunderboats.ning.com,2016-08-17:6315479:Topic:1000342016-08-17T02:03:24.866ZTim Matynhttps://thunderboats.ning.com/profile/TimMatyn

I am still entering pictures in the DHS collection, and hope someone can identify the man in the pictures of the 1956 Gold Cup Race standing on the deck of Miss Thriftway. Pictures are numbers 2016.004.003c,d,e,f, and 2016,004.004a and b. Is this Jack Ramsey?

Saw these photos a couple years ago, and have been trying to find out "what boat was this"? The shots look like Detroit - Ken Muscatel was obviously driving - the name Argus Corp shows on the canopy. But can't find any reference to such a name in Jim Sharkey's "Hydro's Who's Who", or any where else? Maybe it was one of those "display only" boats? used only for exhibition? and there for doesn't show up? Just can't find it! Does anyone out there recognize it? Let me…

I am currently constructing a photo survey of Power boat racing cups and trophies. I have now 68, dating from 1902 (variations of the Harmsworth Trophy) to 1996 (variations of the Columbia Cup. I have not been able to ocate a photo of the Maple Leaf Trophy, raced from the late 40s to the mid 50s. If anyone can post a pic, or steer me to a source for a photo, I would be very much appreciative. Thanx

Hello everyone, I just joined this sight today in order to hopefully find some information about Don Wright, who died racing THE SPIRIT OF MISS LIBERTY back in 1988 at a Panama City, FL race. I met his daughter today and I have ended up with his racing uniform and jacket along with his wife's jacket and shirt, PEACHIE. Two shirts, two jackets and a pair of pants. Does anyone know if these items would be important to anyone in the powerboat racing community?
