Like many, I am distressed to hear of Fred's passing. In many ways he was a direct link between what is and what was. He will be more than missed. Yet, by way of some of the publications that continue, like UNJ, I am hoping some of the talent - and there's a lot of it - will continue to follow the example and the standard he set. It's a difficult career to follow, but at least we have Fred's legacy which is still with us and some talented enthusiasts to keep the flame burning...

Now, if H1 can rise to the occasion by providing some great racing and truly professional organization, we'll be okay.

Sad to hear of Freds passing. I first met Fred at the 1969 Seafair Hydroplane races on Lake Washington.

I will be posting some videos I have of him being interviewed from 1980 untill last year. Fred will be greatly missed.

This is a sad day, and a tremendous loss to our sport. Fred's words were more than just articles. They were like a text book of hydroplaning. I learned so many things from them over the years. I only wish I had had the opportunity to meet and speak with him myself. Farewell...
