4 Culture, in collaboration with artist A Gual Culley and the City of Kenmore, would like to invite you to:
Remembering history:
The Sammamish Slough Boat Races (1933-1976)
Public Lecture, Classic Boat Show and Origami Boat Building Workshop
Come listen to series of lectures from local boat racing historians, past "Slough Boat Race" drivers, as well as community members that were spectators of the event. Look at videos and photographs pulled from the archives of the Kenmore, Bothell and Redmond historical societies, wander to the "Classic Boat Show," and see the Unlimited Hydroplane The Oh Boy Oberto, as well as other classic hydroplane race boats.
Bring the whole family: Create and decorate your very own origami boat with artist A Gaul Culley.
The kickoff celebration will be at the 4Culture Gallery downtown Seattle (101 Prefontaine Pl S, Seattle, WA 98104) Thursday, April 4th, from 6-8pm. This event is a part of the first Thursday gallery walk in Pioneer Square. Artwork by A Gaul Culley as well as a video created by the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum will be on display for all to enjoy.
Comment
I regret I can not attend- I live outside of Sacramento 4 blocks from the up coming race site at Folsom Lake for the Unlimiteds- I just wish some vintage boats were going to at least be there to fire up an engine-
Best wishes for your event

Cary Greenberg
