Slo-Mo-Shun V - magazine promotion for Mobiloil 1955

Hi. Just found this promotion for Mobiloil in a technical magazine in Sweden in 1955. This is nice showing that the unlimited hydroplanes were famous in Sweden even though we didn´t have unlimited in Sweden. Since I have been furtunate to meet Ron Jones Jr last year at the Hydroplane Museeum this is special to me.... Hope to be back soon...…

Swedish Inboard Hydroplane found.....

About four weeks ago I was able (with a few friends) to locate the first of a series of inboard hydroplanes built in Sweden. It was built in 1963/64 and based on a design by Ron Jones Sr. It was powered by a Volvo 4-cylinder engine souped up to about 135 hp. It was raced in the 1800cc class and was able to reach speeds around 70 knots. This boat was found in a barn where it has been sitting since 1967. Rear cowling, engine cowling and the engine is missing but otherwise it is in not too bad…

Visiting from Sweden - what a blast.....

In early April I had the chance to visit the Hydroplane museum for the first time. I would like to thank everyone for the welcome and I must say I am impressed by the work and dedication of everyone. 

 

I am working with a boat museum here in Sweden but we have nothing like what you have. Being a boat racing fan it was like coming to heaven. There is nothing even close to unlimited hydroplanes here. I am restoring a small inboard hydroplane which origin is from one of Ron Jones…
