This is John Freeman visiting with Jack Schafer after the first session at Buffalo.  Everybody was happy. The only problem was that vibration had caused a set screw in the mixture control lever to fall apart thus deactivating idle cut off function. Thankfully Jack was able to shut her down with the mag switch.  If that had failed he would have had to shut off the fuel and continue running until the header tank was dry. Always good to have backups and alternatives.
