Creative Designs

Here are the boats that you might not hear much about. They were designs outside the box. Those experiments that sometimes blazed a trail and sometimes made it clear which way not to go.

I know there are more out there. does anyne else have images we can add?

Yes the Italians tried hard to go faster and set records, many ending with tragic results. The Laura 3 never made it over to the States but some did. The cowling on this one looks just like the one W. Boeing Jr. had on the Wee Wahoo. Here's their story on vh..  http://www.vintagehydroplanes.com/laura3.html   and here    http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/alfa-trucks-buses-marine-aviation-r...

Great image of Miss Lapeer. Way aheads of its time. Looks like the driver might get sucked up in the inlet.
