We're racing through history!

Have not seen any pictures of this boat that held a top speed record for many

years in the 60s beat all of the Allison powered boats in its day with the Griffin power plant

they used in early Spitfires and Hurricanes, before the Merlins came along please send me some input here.

Miss Supertest III will be appearing in Gravenhurst, Ontario, Canada on July 6, 2013 as part of the Greatest Race Boat Show in Canadian History. The show is being organized by the Toronto chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society (ACBS-Toronto) with the theme of 100 Years of Boat Racing. The poster boat for this event is Miss Canada IV, currently under restoration at Tom Adams shop in Muskoka. Actually the rather ironic rules negated the  U.S. boats that ran Merlins, even though Packard Merlins were built in Detroit! While british built Griffons were ok'd to use because Canada was considered British commonwealth.

I to have found the boat attractive. So by July it will have 6 ....48"  R C models. Gasoline & electric powered.

Hi Tony;

I too lived in Detroit in the 50's and 60's and remembe the Supertest. I was on the river in '60 or '61 when it flipped and killed the driver, Bob Hayword in a Silver Cup race. I was with my Dad somewhere in the Roostertail turn when the race sudddenly stopped. We had no idea why until we got home and heard that he had been killed. I was 11 or so then. Please send me your pics - I'm at: dgguido@gmail.com

Thanks!

Doug
