We're racing through history!
Although August seems a long ways away, the Hydroplane & Raceboat Museum's Auction Committee is already hard at work planning this summer's annual event. Hey, putting on a party for over 250 of our closest friends is a big task!
Did you know that it costs over $1,000 per day to keep the Hydroplane & Raceboat Museum doors open? That's right, our annual budget is over $350,000 per year. Last year, over one third of our income came from the August auction. And, all proceeds go directly to the museum’s general operating budget. So, it goes without saying that the auction is a very import event.
There are three ways that you can help make the event a success this year:
Donate. If you own a business, donate goods or services from you business. If you have a favorite restaurant or hotel, ask them to donate a meal or a nights stay. Perhaps you have a vacation rental or air miles, these make for great donations. If you have seasons tickets to a favorite team, donate tickets to a game. If you are a hydro collector donate a duplicate from your collection. Anything and everything helps and is appreciated.
When you are ready to donate, just send your items to the museum office, along with a completed procurement form so your items can be properly documented. Here is this year's procurement form:
Attend. Plan on attending, bring some friends, support the museum, all the while having a great time. And, you just never know who you might run into.
Volunteer. If you have nothing to donate and cannot afford to attend, come volunteer and help us put on the party. Volunteering for the auction is a great way to get involved with the museum and ensure the event is successful.
